Artist & Author-Illustrator

AUTHOR-ILLUSTRATOR - Children’s Picture Book
I’m passionate about letting children be children, especially in a world of increasing stresses. I’m currently creating, writing and illustrating, my first children's picture book, more can be found here. I believe that picture books are essential for nurturing and inspiring imaginations, both for children and adults. My artwork is mainly hand drawn and painted and feel there is something special about an image, artwork created by hand. Through the mark making, brushstrokes, crafting of materials, something magical is created and opens a doorway into imagination and wonder, both for the artist and the child or adult viewing the picture book. More on my story of becoming an Author-Illustrator can be found here.

More stories to come: Through creating this first children’s picture book more stories and illustrations have come through for subsequent picture books. I have completed another five stories to date, which is exciting and currently filing these so they can be published at a later date. I look forward to publishing my debut book.

ARTIST
The images, painting and illustrative work I create is hand crafted and a response to something that gives me joy, holds a special connection or insight. Other pieces are the result of playing with colour and favourite materials. I use a range of media, paint, graphite, ink, and mixed media. I create from instinct, something moves me and I respond creatively. Somethings I respond to are from the unseen, a form of both subtle and wider sensory experiences, communications. These hold a special connection for me, a moment of wisdom that ties insights together, a human journey revealing it’s story over decades, sometimes lifetimes.

I have a love for wildlife and the natural environment and have spent much time connecting with it in various ways, from gentle solo night swims in Cornwall’s coves, travels to the Mongolian Steppe, to listening quietly to bird song at various points in the day. My intimacy with nature generates inspiration for a lot of my pieces both written word and artwork.

I hope to be developing new work over the next years within the medium of film / cinematography, touching on themes of the human journey and intimacy with the natural landscape.
