Each year they arrive, the Hellebores flower throughout the winter here in the garden. Delicate, cupped, and full of dynamic beauty, the energy they emit is awesome. With their centres packed with stamens and being a winter pollinator, bees stop by throughout the season and into spring. They can take a hard frost, a foot of snow, and then rise up again with the clearing. And with the increased haste and change in our world, I step back and take my time with this beauty in the garden, the joy of nature, and the power of this flower.

The Hellebore has landed in two of my poems, one called “Blackbird”, the other titled “Hellebore”. I look forward to sharing more in the near future.

The hellebores, the snowdrops, who shy their beauty for you and all life.
